As a mediator, I can provide legal information that can be helpful to resolving matters, but not legal advice.
My Process:
Free Zoom information session
To explain the process and how I do things. No commitment, and no cost.
If you decide you’d like me as your mediator then:
Pre-mediation sessions
with each client, by Zoom, phone, or in-office. I learn a bit more about you, and confirm this matter is suitable for mediation. Everything discussed is confidential.
At the end of the session, I’ll give you a list of the financial documents I want before we start mediation (this can range from your last three tax returns and CRA Notices of Assessment to statements for RRSPs, bank accounts, RESPs, life insurance policies or pension plans, and other documents).
Documents and preparation
Gather your documents and get them to me before the date set for mediation so that I have time to review them and prepare for mediation.
Mediation
We’ll work together to find a resolution that works for both parties. This is billed at an hourly rate, which means that if things are resolved quickly, you’ll pay less.
Separation agreement
Once a resolution is reached, I’ll draft the separation agreement which clients are strongly encouraged to review with their own lawyers.
